Director Brady Corbets meets the K65K team

July 2025

Some milestones are technical; some are human. Director Brady Corbet stopped by in Milan — a friendly, off-the-record catch-up as a friend of the project. K65K talk: true 65mm at high speed; notes on internal focusing, stability, and honest analog texture.

K65K team reaches The Odyssey set in Favignana to meet DP Hoyte van Hoytema

K65K goes to The Odyssey set in Favignana to meet Hoyte van Hoytema

March 2025

A friendly hello in Favignana with two Academy Award winners — Hoyte van Hoytema and Andrew Jackson. Outside The Odyssey base camp, a brief look at K65K: true 65mm at speed. We spoke about internal focusing and registration at 360/720 fps — “Nice to meet crazy people.”

The fastest 65mm camera

Definitely not designed to be a quiet MOS camera, the K65K brings high-speed cinematography into the 65mm film format.

This giant rotary prism camera can shoot on commercially available 65mm negative stock in two unique formats: the large square 1:1 12-perf format, with a maximum speed of 360 fps, and the ultra-fast 2:1 6-perf format, capable of reaching an incredible 720 fps.

We are proud of our proprietary, patent-pending internal focusing system, which enables the use of a wide range of focal lengths — from 50 mm up to 500 mm — while maintaining maximum stability and optical resolution.

More surface. More speed. More data.

We created the Image Bandwidth Index (IBI) — a clear metric that expresses how much visual information a camera can capture every second.

It is calculated by multiplying the exposure area by the maximum frame rate, showing the total image surface exposed per unit of time.

IBI is expressed in Tiz, a custom unit equal to 1 dm²/s, which effectively corresponds to the bandwidth of standard 35 mm film in one second.

For reference, standard 65 mm at 24 fps has an IBI of 2.9 Tiz.

The higher the IBI, the greater the visual bandwidth of the system — meaning more image data, more detail, and more cinematic power.
